Drawing and Painting Wildlife
Friday 18th, Saturday 19th, Sunday 20th, July 2025
A friendly and relaxed, three day workshop in the inspirational setting of Burrator Nature Reserve on Dartmoor and the Wildwood art gallery. One-to-one tuition in a small group of just five.
The Wildlife Drawing & Painting workshop looks at source material & research before creating, animal anatomy, creating fur & feathers in different mediums, composition, proportion whilst evoking a sense of the animal/birds nature or character. Initially, we will visit Burrator nature reserve to sketch and observe behaviours of birds, butterflies & any other wildlife we chance upon in order to gain some insight into behaviour, movement & habitat. Wild animals are often shy (or nocturnal) and so we will look at other reference material too in order to create works of animals such as foxes, badgers, squirrels, the list is endless. So this is not just about birds, it is suited to your preferences. This course is suitable for those who have some basic drawing & painting skills.
Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch.
Time -10.30 am-4.30pm
Location – Wildwood Art Gallery, Chapel lane, Horrabridge, Yelverton. PL20 7SP
